Levels of Care

At Invicta Recovery Center in Altadena, CA, we believe that effective treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. Recovery is a journey, and the right level of care can make all the difference. Whether you’re taking your first step toward sobriety or transitioning out of a higher level of treatment, our continuum of care is designed to meet you exactly where you are—and support you every step of the way.

We serve adults struggling with addiction, mental health challenges, and co-occurring disorders, offering flexible outpatient programs that let you maintain your daily responsibilities while getting the help you need. Our multi-lingual team provides treatment in English, Spanish, and Armenian, and we offer specialized programs for active military and veterans.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides a high level of clinical care for individuals who need intensive daily treatment but do not require overnight inpatient hospitalization. PHP is often recommended for those stepping down from residential treatment, or for individuals whose condition requires more support than IOP alone can provide.

PHP at Invicta Recovery offers structured programming during the day, with the flexibility to return home or to a sober living environment in the evenings. This approach allows clients to apply the skills they’re learning in treatment to real-world environments, building confidence and resilience in a supported way.

PHP typically includes:

  • Daily individual and group therapy sessions
  • Psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management
  • Trauma-focused therapies including Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • DBT and CBT skill-building groups
  • Dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, PTSD, depression, and anxiety
  • Family therapy and psychoeducation
  • Case management and discharge planning
  • Support for active military personnel and veterans through specialized programming

PHP is often covered by insurance when pre-authorized. Our admissions team handles the entire authorization process—contacting your provider, submitting clinical documentation, and securing approval so you can focus on getting well.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured, clinically robust treatment option for individuals who need more support than standard outpatient care but do not require round-the-clock supervision. IOP at Invicta Recovery is designed to fit into your life—so you can continue working, attending school, or caring for your family while receiving meaningful, evidence-based treatment.

What to expect in our IOP:

  • Multiple sessions per week, typically 3–5 days, for several hours per day
  • Individual therapy sessions with a licensed therapist
  • Group therapy focused on addiction recovery, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) modalities
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when clinically appropriate
  • Family therapy and support
  • Trauma-informed care for individuals with co-occurring PTSD, anxiety, or depression
  • Multi-lingual tracks available in English, Spanish, and Armenian

IOP is an ideal step-down from Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or inpatient care, and is also a strong starting point for those whose clinical assessment indicates a structured outpatient setting. Many insurance plans cover IOP as a medically necessary level of care—our team will verify your benefits at no cost before you begin.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders—particularly opioid and alcohol addiction. At Invicta Recovery, MAT is not a standalone solution; it is integrated into a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan that addresses the whole person.

We understand that the decision to use medication in recovery is deeply personal. Our licensed clinicians work collaboratively with clients and their healthcare providers to determine whether MAT is clinically appropriate, explain all options clearly, and monitor progress throughout treatment. We take special care with individuals managing co-occurring medical or psychiatric needs alongside addiction.

MAT at Invicta Recovery may support treatment for:

  • Opioid use disorder (including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers)
  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Benzodiazepine dependence (with careful medical oversight and tapering protocols)
  • Co-occurring psychiatric conditions requiring psychiatric medication management

MAT is available across our levels of care and is coordinated with our therapy team to ensure a seamless, integrated treatment experience. Our goal is always long-term recovery—not just stabilization.

Outpatient & Aftercare

Recovery doesn’t end when a program does. Our outpatient and aftercare services are designed to provide ongoing support as clients transition back into their daily lives, reduce the risk of relapse, and continue building the skills and connections that sustain lasting recovery.

Standard outpatient care at Invicta Recovery involves fewer weekly sessions than IOP or PHP, making it well-suited for clients who have achieved a degree of stability and are ready for a more independent level of support. This may include individual therapy, group counseling, medication management, and psychiatric evaluations—all essential components for long-term mental wellness and sobriety.

Alumni Groups and Events

Community is one of the most powerful forces in recovery. Our alumni groups bring together individuals who have completed treatment at Invicta Recovery to share experiences, celebrate milestones, and support one another through the challenges of sober living. Regular alumni events create a sense of belonging and accountability that extends well beyond formal treatment—because the connections you build here are meant to last a lifetime.

Relapse Prevention Planning

A strong relapse prevention plan is one of the most important tools a person in recovery can have. At Invicta Recovery, relapse prevention planning begins the moment treatment starts and evolves throughout every phase of care. Working with your therapist, you’ll identify your personal triggers, develop healthy coping strategies, build a crisis response plan, and establish a support network you can rely on. Our evidence-based approach draws on CBT, DBT, motivational therapy, and solution-focused techniques to give you practical, real-world tools for maintaining sobriety.

Ongoing Therapy and Psychiatric Care

Mental health and addiction are deeply interconnected. Many of our clients live with co-occurring disorders—depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or emotional regulation challenges—that require consistent, specialized care even after the primary treatment phase is complete. Our licensed therapists and psychiatric providers continue to offer individual therapy, group counseling, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management as part of ongoing outpatient care, ensuring that every aspect of your mental and emotional health is supported as you move forward.

Life Skills Training

Recovery is about rebuilding—not just sobriety, but a life worth living. Our life skills programming helps clients develop the practical tools and confidence they need to thrive independently. This includes communication and interpersonal skills, stress management, financial literacy, healthy routines, and strategies for navigating relationships and responsibilities. We take a holistic approach to recovery that recognizes the importance of daily functioning, self-efficacy, and personal growth alongside clinical treatment.

Support for Re-Entering School or the Workforce

Returning to school or work after treatment can feel daunting—but it’s also one of the most meaningful signs of progress in recovery. Invicta Recovery provides individualized support to help clients navigate this transition with confidence. Whether that means helping you prepare for a job search, addressing barriers to employment, reconnecting with educational goals, or developing a plan for balancing new responsibilities with your recovery needs, our team is here to help. We also offer music production mentorship as one of our innovative programming options, supporting creative pathways to purpose and re-engagement.
